New FamilySearch integration.
- Version 7.4 includes a special "pre-release" edition of our New FamilySearch integration tools which lets users:
- Match their Legacy individuals with FamilySearch individuals
- Combine potential duplicates that exist at FamilySearch
- View the real-time ordinance status of individuals
- After installing the update, you will be asked if you want to turn on the FamilySearch integration tools. At this time only LDS members should say yes (FamilySearch accounts are currently restricted to members of the LDS church while they conclude their testing).
- The FamilySearch tools have been officially certified by FamilySearch, but the tools are still in "pre-release mode". This means that
- not all of the features that we want to implement are available, but we want you to get started (the rest of the features will be released in version 7.5)
- there are still a few minor (non-critical) bugs to resolve.

Legacy includes a complete master source citation system that lets you fully document where your information came from. The Source Clipboard™ feature lets you assign sources to newly entered individuals with the click of a button. The AutoSource™ feature lets you assign a source to all imported records, so you can tell where they came from in the future.
View Multiple Family Files at the Same Time
You can open up to seven different Family/Pedigree Views at the same time allowing you to view different parts of the same file at the same time. You can also have two different Family Files open simultaneously allowing you to compare two family trees side-by-side.
Powerful Searching Capabilities
You can search for specific individuals or groups of individuals using simple fill-in-the-blanks forms or using powerful detailed searching. Results can be viewed one-by-one or a list can be created. Subsequent searches can add to or replace the current list. Wildcard searches are also supported.
Date Calculator
Legacy’s date calculator lets you figure birth dates, death dates and ages. Gravestones often list death information like: Died 26 January, 1763 67 year, 10 month, 5 days. Using the date calculator you can quickly figure the birth date.
QuickFill Fields
When entering names and places, Legacy automatically fills in the remainder for you. This way, you don’t have to type out entire locations and long surnames over and over.
Bookmarks and History List
You can place bookmarks on desired records so you can quick return to them at a later time. Legacy also maintains a history list of the last 20 to 160 individuals you have viewed, making it easy to backtrack.
Alternate Names and Events
Individuals are often known by different names or have multiple spellings. All these variations can be placed in the Alternate Names field instead of getting lost in the Notes field.
Pictures and Sounds
You can link unlimited pictures and sound files to each individual. A self-running photo album display, complete with narration can be played.
Import Personal Ancestral File and GEDCOM Files
Legacy imports all standard GEDCOM files (and almost all non-standard ones as well), making it easy to load information from other programs without having to retype it. Personal Ancestral Files (PAF) are also imported into Legacy.
Export Files for Other Genealogy Programs, Ancestral File and TempleReady
Legacy can export GEDCOM files for many different destinations. These include PAF, Ancestral File submission, TempleReady submission, generic, basic and others.
Completely Customizable
Nearly every facet of Legacy can be customized by the user. These include: Window appearance, which view to display, which family to display, how surnames are printed, the location of the button bar, automatic backup when exiting, balloon help, pop-up info boxes, name and date formatting, LDS information, keyboard behavior, colors, fonts, and file locations. All settings are saved and used in subsequent sessions.
Complete LDS Support
Create TempleReady submission files. After the names have been cleared through TempleReady, Legacy reads the resulting Temple Submission File and marks all the cleared individuals in your Family File.
Extensive Context-Sensitive Help While You Work
No matter what screen you are viewing, help is only a click away. Legacy includes hundreds of online help topics. Each window and form includes a Help button that gives you specific help for what you are working on.
